The Sorceress (Chapter 5)
Every witch in the room suddenly leapt back as if struck by a sudden jolt of electricity. I yelped and looked about me, suddenly feeling like a rabbit surrounded by wolves. Rose and Amelia had suddenly procured staves of their own and were brandishing them at me like weapons. Mary had her hands over her mouth, her smile finally gone (I assume). Madeline’s eyes had widened but she was the only one not to move. Jenny’s arms were up as if intent to fend me off if I came after her, which I had no intention of attempting. I looked around in surprise and disbelief. “You were a man!?” Rose cried. “I knew something wasn’t right about you!” Amelia hissed furiously. I lost track of what the other girls were saying as all began speaking in hushed and harsh tones. A few were muttering dangerous intentions that made me very uncomfortable. All the while, I noticed that Ms. Fey didn’t seem moved. Her eyes were focused on the Grand Enchantress, who was glaring back at her with equal intensity.
